First off you may be confused by the picture of the rack on Amazon. It is a model 64650 with a curved receiver, the one pictured is an older model with a streight receiver. also the 2" adapter is like the new model 64670 with metal plates. You may have read complaints about a plastic adapter. The pin for the reciever is threaded (to firm it up)so a regular hitch pin won't work unless you drill it out. as of 7/24/2009 Amazon shipping was free and no sales tax to Cali :)

I have only had the chance to use the rack a few times. The first time when holding my wife and my bike the clamps and rack worked great. The second time I carried two larger bikes for males where the cross bar was higher. I could not engage the inside bike clamp on its notches because the bottom of the bar clamp did not reach down to the noches on the clamp. I had to put a C clamp at the top of the bar clamp to hold it in place.

As a 70 year old active senior I recently purchased a bike and joined a local bike group. Since I had a hitch I looked for a hitch mount rack. The Swagman XC Cross Country is perfect for me because it involves very little lifting and is a breeze to use. I can get 2 bikes on and off without help. My husband told me our SUV had a 2 inch receiver. Actually it's and inch and a quarter. But not to worry. This rack adapts to both and it was easy to put together. My daughter and I did it in no time. My son-in-law attached it to the hitch and we were good to go. I like the fact that I can open the rear of my SUV with the rack on. I would give it 5 stars but the powder coating is wearing off in places and it shows rust already. I will re-coat it when the rack is removed for the Buffalo winter. For the price you can't beat this rack.

I have used this rack a few times now the last being a 4 hour round trip which it held up perfectly. The Swagman rack is well made, very stable and I trust it without hesitation. The rack was attached to the swagman receiver mount for square camper bumpers which also worked great. If I had to complain about something it would be the pin that holds it in is actully a bolt that screws in so a locking pin is unable to be used. The bolt does draw the rack to the hitch to prevent it from rattling around. BOTTOM LINE: Well build, stable, worth the money paid, would and have recommended it to others.

Product performs as described. Light & strurdy. The low mount design provides for easy placement of bikes. I used a racheting tie-down to pull the rack to one side to prevent the hitch from rattling in the reciever. This rack would be perfect if it had a locking pin.
