Every little bump, and it came looser and looser as I rode. I ended up tightening the screw every couple minutes, and eventually my coffee tumbler fell onto the road.
I think it's a design flaw: the screw has a uniform flat head (so it can't be tightened with a screwdriver), and threads through a triangle-shaped plastic bit for finger-tightening. The idea is that the triangular bit becomes the head of the screw; however, the triangular head slides along the screw during install, making it very hard to get it tight enough. When I installed it, I used the thickening pad around the handle bar and used a wrench on the triangular head, but it failed nonetheless.
Maybe mine is defective or something, but what a waste. Very disappointed.

Just make sure that you keep that little tab stuck in your McD Coffee cup lid, and this holder is great.

Other than being able to fit you size handle bars, it is what it is...
It just depends on how you wanna sport your cup... I can see several styles out there - I went with this... Some cups fit some don't - but with a little sampling I found a great plastic cup that fits, just right... I might put a little fabric tape (like the receiving end of Velcro) inside the ring - because if the cup drops in real fast into the ring it can get a little stuck... (but just spiting hairs)
Also - for me I had a real thin cross bar on my bike (bought from twisted throttle)... I put some magic putty on the bar and it's rock solid at the right thickness it should be....

I ordered this drink holder after two disastrous bike trips to the coffee shop. The first time, I didn't have the drink hole on the lid covered and I lost about 1/3 of my drink! The second time, I got a plastic stopper thing that they give out, and that kept most everything in, but because of my constant slight squeezing of my cup, coffee would come out of the tiny air hole. The idea behind this drink holder is so simple. Once I got it out of the box, I attached it to the handle bar on my bike - no tools required! I made sure it was tight and could hold a relatively heavy drink. In less than five minutes, I was ready to go! The next morning, I biked over to get my coffee and voila - no spillage on the way back!

Good product for the price, not very stout but will hold most thinner types of travel cups. The mount works fine.
