I have a BMW 3 series sedan, and for this car, I needed to buy the control towers and landing pad base(11). I followed the instructions carefully and had the rack installed, but when I removed the rack for a car wash, I realized that the roof was dented in. Apparently I had tightened the bolts too much. The landing pad was a rubber piece that compresses as the bolt is tightened, and it's difficult to tell visually when the rigid plastic control tower behind it is touching the roof. Also, the resistance of the bolt during tighting did not vary that much - the bolt kept on turning on without much effort. The estimate for repair = $2000.

Install is bit of a slog, but that's same for any rack mount on the CRV. You have to work the nuts on and off the threaded studs on the vehicle roof to clear off the paint on them. Then after putting the landing pad on tightening the nuts is pretty stiff with the allen wrench provided. They look good though and have a nice cover for when towers/bars are not in use. Towers snap right in and are solid.
